Cream of tartar. You can find it in the baking aisle or with the spices. It doesn't cost much.

Cream of tartar is best known in our kitchens for helping stabilize and give more volume to beaten egg whites. It is the acidic ingredient in some brands of baking powder. It is also used to produce a creamier texture in sugary desserts such as candy and frosting.

The full name is Cream of Tarter, and it's used to stabilize egg whites while baking.
Its found in the spice isle at the grocery store.
The cost is around $2-$3.

P.S whatever you do not use tarter sauce, i learned that the hard way!

Cream of tartar is a levening agent, it helps the cake rise during the baking process. Like baking soda or baking powder. You can make a substition for this incredient by mixing 2 parts baking soda with 1 part baking soda and using 1 tsp. of this for every 1/2 tsp of cream of tartar that is needed.

It's commonly called Cream of Tartar. Found in the baking/spice aisle of your grocery store.

It's called "cream of tartar." It costs a few dollars for a small can, but you only use a little bit. It's in the baking aisle of the store, with baking powder, spices, etc.

Cream of tarter sort of looks like cornstarch and helps the cake hold its shape. I buy it in bulk for $2 per pound but you can et about 2 TBSP worth from the store for like $3. Sad but true. Some nutrition stores sell it for much less and you buy by the ounce. It is also an ingredient in playdoh.

it's about a buck or two. It helps retain the bubble in your cake so yes it is a necessary ingredient. good luck these can be a bit tricky

Cream of tartar is the common name for potassium hydrogen tartrate - a mild acidic salt used in cooking. It is used in baking powder, as a stabiliser (such as when beating egg-whites) and can make frostings appear creamier. It's not expensive.

it's cream of tarter and you do need it.....find it with the spices and baking stuff - not too expensive
