I need a recipe for chili.?!
Answers: I have dried beans, so prefer to use them instead of canned. Do not like it too spicy. Stove or Crock pot okay. Thanks.
Here's a recipe I just gave someone else. It calls for canned beans but you can always use the dried ones after you've cooked them.
CHILI
1 lb ground beef
1 can kidney beans - drained
1 can regular size can tomato sauce
1 can small size tomato sauce
1/2 pkg Chili Mix powder
Cook the beef, breaking it into chunks. Drain it. Add the beef to a pot. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir well. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Enjoy! Always better the next day. I even add it to a nice omelet for breakfast!
LARRY’S CHILI
2 cans Hunts Special Sauce, or two cans diced tomatoes (I haven’t been able to find Hunts Special for a long time)
1 can tomato paste
2 Lb. Ground beef, not lean, grease is needed for cooking but will be drained off.
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 can Kidney beans
1 can Black beans
2 medium onions, chopped coarse, I like to use one red onion & 1 bunch green onions.
1 cup Heinz Ketchup
1 Tablespoon Hershey powdered cocoa. Yes, you read that correctly!!
2 Tablespoon Chili Powder. I use pure chili powder, does not have cumin in it. (Don’t go cheap here, buy the best you can find, makes a huge difference in the taste)
1 clove Garlic chopped fine
2 Jalapeno or Serrano peppers, remove seeds & chop fine
6-8 drops Tapatio Sauce. (this is a hot pepper sauce WITHOUT vinegar) available in the Mexican department at the grocery.
This ingredient is the place to “tune” the heat in the chili. Use more or less Tapatio, NOT more or less chili powder.
In heavy pot, brown meat with onions & peppers. Drain well, now is the time to get rid of all the grease you can!!
Add all other ingredients, be sure you use the juice from the beans & tomatoes. This is the salt component of the dish. Add V8 juice to achieve the consistency desired. Simmer for about 40 minutes.
I have been making chili forever and really dont have a recipe, but it kind of goes like this;
2 cans of kidney beans drained
1 can of pinto beans drained
1 can of black beans drained
1 large yellow onion chopped
4 cloves of garlic minced
2 jalapenos minced
4 tblsp good chili powder
2 tblsp cumin
4 cans of tomatoes w/chiles
1lb of cooked ground beef
throw it all in crockpot.cook all day.
Enjoy!
2 tablespoons oil
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 can onion soup
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons cocoa
2 cans kidney beans
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 cup cola (Coke, Pepsi, or generic)
Brown ground beef and salt in oil. Put soup in blender, blend
for 1 minute. Add all to crock pot. Drain beef and beans before
adding to pot. Let simmer on low for 6 hours or on high for 2 hours.
