Do you prefer storebought cookbooks or compiling your own with family recipes?!

Question: both. I buy cookbooks but I also have a binder that I use to make my own cookbook. I type my recipes out then get those plastic sheet protectors and put into the binder by category.

I do both... I have a cookbook collection that numbers around 500 books and I have put together a couple of cookbooks myself. It is alot of hard work though. I don't think I will be doing it again any time soon.

Homemade cookies are always the best!

Both. Whenever I try out a new recipe, I always make notes right in the book after. Gradually the recipes evolve and become my own. Everybody has different ideas about what is a good taste, so this is fun to do!

I like both. I use a 3" three ring binder and clear plastic sheet protectors. This allows me to add family recipes, recipes cut out of magazines and ones I've photo copied from cook books.

This idea came from a magazine years ago and I have found it to be the best way for me to keep track of lots of good recipes I probably would have lost otherwise.

BTW, you can buy the sheet protectors in packs of 200 at Sam's Club and Costco at a very reasonable price.

The best of both

I get recipes from all over and I keep them in a 3 ring binder. I also have a stack of recipes that I keep in a pile of waiting to try.

I prefer modern cooking and microwave cooking cookbooks.

I'm old enough to know that food taste much better now days than years and years ago. Most foods were too dry. Cakes were usually not moist. Now we have leaned to put dry pudding in the cake mixes to make them moist.

Both. But I have seemed to misplaced my favorite cookbook. Oh dear.

Both. I started with a cookbook my mom gave me when I moved away. ( The Joy of Cooking ) . It was a really good starter, then when I got more comfortable in the kitchen, I got recipes from my mom. Then, I started cutting them out of newspapers and magazines, then I started buying cookbooks. I love cookbooks!!! Now, I have a 3 ring binder with all the best in it.. I plan to give a copy to both my kids when they leave home ( and/or ask for it )
