How can you tell if scones are done or not?!


Question: so i made the scones and now i'm not quite sure if they are done or not. the outside is light brown and crispy but when i press on them it gives a little but it kind of feels a bit like a really heavy cake thats a bit moist. does anyone know if they are done or not?

They should be firm to the touch but not hard. Not too sure about the moist part ... they should be dry - even if you put an egg wash or milk on them.

If you have ever baked biscuits, they should feel the same way. I tap mine and if I get a semi-hollow sound, I know they are done.

I had make scones for several times, and thee only way I know they are ready is when I turn it upside down and I see the amber colour in the bottom. By the way do you have a good recipe because I have never find a good one with th hard crust the the scones has to have. Thanks!
