How long is butter good for?!

Question: ie. in the fridge
How do you know if it's gone bad?

How do you know if it's gone bad?

I use butter that has been in the fridge for a year! If it doesnt' have any mold on it or looks funny it should be fine.

salted butter tends to be more stable....I always rely on the smell test...if it doesn't smell bad ...then its good,

i'm not sure butter has an expiration date. I have used it until it's gone, which is usually within the first month.

Salted for 4 weeks and unsalted for 2.

if theres no mold or unusual smell then go for it.

Butter don't go bad.

I buy butter when it is on sale and freeze it for up to 3 of 4 months. For butter in the fridge, it depends on whether or not your fridge has any weird odors. Butter seems to pick up odd odors and tastes easily. It is still OK, ( not spoiled ), but it won't taste the same. A box of open baking soda in the fridge can do wonders for that.
