Here's a recipe for sweet/hot BBQ, it's great on pork, chicken, ribs and even steak....

1/2 cup ketchup
2 cups unpacked brown sugar
6 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4-1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

DIRECTIONS
In a saucepan over medium heat, mix applesauce, ketchup, brown sugar, lemon juice, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne and cinnamon. Bring mixture to a boil. Remove from heat, and cool completely. Use to baste the meat of your choice.

Do you want vinegar based? Do you Like sweet, Hot? Sour? or quick? I will give you quick and if you want something else. let me know.

This is quick and easy and it doesn't taste like store bought sauce. KC Masterpiece makes a good sauce, I haven't found one better as a base.

Put a little oil (vegetable or canola) in a skillet, add about 1/2 of a medium chopped "sweet" onion (vadillia work best). Saute until translucent and a little caramelized.

Add some fresh ground pepper and about 1 to 2 tablespoons Honey. Add the BBQ sauce and stir. Taste, if needed you can add some mustard, yellow. Or some apple cider vinegar or even a pinch of sugar. I like to add a bit of ketchup to smooth it out as well.

this is the recipe i use for bbq sauce it is sweet but can be hot too depending on the chilli you can flavour to your liking
COCA COLA BBQ SAUCE
You might not think of a cola as the base for a barbecue sauce, but the sweetness of the soda helps to enhance the flavors of the sauce. You can reduce the calories of this sauce with diet soda, but it will change the flavor.
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups Coca-Cola (or similar cola)
2 cups ketchup
1 cup white vinegar
1/2 onion large onion, finely chopped
1 1/2 tablespoons black pepper
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons salt
3 tablespoons chili powder
PREPARATION:
Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook slowly for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally.
