Rum Liquor distilled from molasses or sugar syrup.

For light rum, use pineapple juice flavored with almond extract.
For dark rum, use molasses thinned with pineapple juice and flavored with almond extract. Or use rum extract flavoring.

Substitution Chart.
? 2 Tbsp rum = 1/2 to 1 tsp rum extract. If the liquid is an important part of the recipe, add enough water or apple juice to make up the difference.
? 1 Tbsp dark rum = 2 Tbsp rum extract.
? 5 Tbsp light rum = 1 Tbsp rum extract.
? Brandy or cognac may often be substituted for rum in equal amounts, but expect the obvious change in flavor.

hope these help. good luck and enjoy.

No. You would need to use an alternate amount of liquid to your recipe to take the place of the rum; and then a certain amount of rum extract for the flavour.

you cannot replace a half cup of real rum with ANY amount of extract.

real rum as more to it then the Rum Extract. I would stick to the recipe. The alcohol will cook out of it

16 tbsp = 1cup
8 tbsp real rum = 1/2 cup
1 1/2 tsp = 1 tbsp real rum
1 1/2 tsp.extract x 8 tbsp(1/2 cup)=12 tsp.extract
You need 12 tsp rum extract according to your formula to equal 1/2 cup of real rum.Sounds like a lot of extract If you can borrow some real rum, I think whatever you are making would taste a heck of a lot better.

Due? You owe money when you use rum in a recipe?
