How do I cook a yam?!

Question: I was given some yams that I would like to add to the curry I'm making tonight, but don't know how to cook them first. I just recently started learning how to cook. Any help?

You can bake them, then cube them. (350 for about an hour)
Or cube them first and boil them. ('til a toothpick goes into them smoothly)
Or slice them in rounds and bake them!

If ur adding it to a curry. Peel, and dice and boil . Drain and add to ur curry.

I love to peel them then cut into 1/2 medallions. Then I put a pat of real butter and honey , with a tiny bit of nutmeg over them and bake until done.

Just peal them and treat them like potatoes.

boil them

Treat them like potatoes - but be care full! I discovered that myself and my sister are both allergic to them, we both itched like crazy after peeling yams, all over our hands and up our arms.

They are vicious vegetables, don't say you haven't been warned!!

The best yam ever recipe is as follows: Peel and slice the yam, do not dice.....put the yams into a sauce pot, add about 2 cups of sugar per 6 yams, I stick of butter, and 2 tsps of vanilla flavoring or extract....NO WATER....let them simmer in their own juices just until tender, then enjoy! I promise, nothing this good has ever entered your mouth! Enjoy!!

Bake @ 375F for about 50 min (test for doneness; depends on size) and enjoy like a baked potato. Drizzle with a little maple syrup for an extra treat.

again bake them but fork them first .
