What can i use thats healthy with a stir fry i hate soy sause?!
Answers: i just put a tiny bit of olive oil in but is there something else i can put in to add a bit of flavour
if you have any lemon's/oranges squeeze into it? very nice,
I often pop a splash of Lea and Perrins in - makes a change!
Balsamic Vinegar, be carefull though.
Root ginger ground up helps too.
i use black bean sauce, it's only 55 calories per half a satchet!
sesame oil, chili
Hoi sin sauce
Sweet chilly sauce
Coconut milk and green curry (no relation to indian curry)
Teriyaki sauce
Oyster sauce
Orange juice , 2 tspn sugar , 1/2 tspn corn flour
Mustard and honey
you could try vinegar, hoisin, or what i like to do is some hot sauce...if youre into spicy things.....also theres wines, liquirs, and beers
Chilli, ginger and garlic are traditional. Lemon or lime juice adds a kick, and as above Worcestershire sauce is a great idea.
It depends on what you like. I guess the key would be to season your olive oil.
If you like spicy add some chili paste or fresh chilis. You could do the same with lemon, lime or lemongrass. Garlic would be good as well. At the end you could add a few dashes of sesame oil. Don't add this too early, sesame oil burns quicly. You could also add a few dashes of teriyaki sauce.
i had the same problem then one noght when eating out ordered a stir fry. it was delicous but i couldnt work out what the secret ingredient was. i gave the chef my thanks for nice food and asked him what was in the stir fry. a veetable stock cube or 2! try it its gorgeuos
get them amoy sachets from the supermarket there about 59p or something and have about 6 diffirent flavours and make stir frys well tasty
Walnut oil.
Sesame oil with a squeeze of lime juice. You can also get flavoured oils that have the herbs or spices already added. They often are priced much higher than regular oils, but you use such a small amount that they don't work out to expensive.
lea & perrins or worcester sauce.you wont need much tho.
Mixed herb&spices
you don't have to use soy sauce but what type of soy sauce have you tried as some of the cheaper ones are disgusting and not fit even for the bin and if after trying the better ones you still do not like soy sauce no big as you can use oyster sauce hoi sin or black bean sauces instead as for olive oil no do not use this in stir fry as it is the wrong oil and you can not substitute soy sauce with olive oil
Oyster sauce.
BTW Soy is an acquired taste and there are lots of different strengths and flavours. Use sparingly, and when you are used to it, you'll wonder how you managed without. (Obviously not very well, judging by your question).
Sesame Seed Oil, hot sause
stir fry all you need is salt actually. and oil of course.
you can try add a little seaseme oil if you like.
In a few words,...... Rice vinegar and Pepper is all you need.
veg stock cube is good
Oyster or black bean are the favourites in my house lol
also try 'Chinese five spice seasoning' and ginger.
Mange tout peppers baby sweetcorn carrots onions king prawns (if you like them)beansprouts and water chestnuts fried in garlic lemon ginger paprika mixed with olive oil after if you are not to health concious fry some sliced french stick in the oil. BON APETIT
