Chocolate covered oreo's?!

Question: I want to make these for my hubby for v-day... but how in the world do you dip them without leaving marks from using tongs?

If anyone has a fancy recipe for these I'd appreciate it too lol - right now I'm just going to melt down hersey bars.

(I rarely am in the kitchen, so pardon my ignorance lol)

I wouldn't use hershey bars for the coating. They're too fatty and won't behave well. I'd use semi-sweet chocolate chips...cheap and easy to find...and they melt well.
Always melt with a double boiler...and slowly. it's easier to burn chocolate than you think.
Melt the chocolate, and then let it cool for a couple of seconds so it's not steaming hot.
Dunk in 1/2 the oreo (like you would in milk - LOL)... then let it cool and dry on a sheet of wax paper. Then, once set, dip the other 1/2 to coat it fully. It's easiest and it looks pretty darn good when you take your time. You can pop them in the fridge for a couple of minutes to speed up the cooling time.
Good luck!

You can buy them ....

use a spoon instead of tongs.

u could set the oreo on the plate then pur the melted chocolate over it...then let that dry and turn it and do the other side......that's how i would do it..

you can buy them already made

Sounds like a man who is lucky to have ya.You can dip them and set them on wax paper. But stand them up and place in the fridge for 20 or so minutes. or untill they harden

Set it on a fork and dip it then put it on a rack so the excess chocolate can drip off. They do sell dipping forks in specialty cooking stores but a regular fork works well for me. Check out the link below for directions.http://www.ehow.com/how_2161553_chocolat...

like the person before me said that's how i would do it, also remember that to melt the chocolate, if you don't have a fancy pants melter thing, you can boil water in a pot, then take a bowl and put it over the boiling water and put the chocolate in that, then you can let the chocolate melt while stirring often so it won't burn.

Unless that's his favorite thing to eat...make him something that's actually good.

Sounds like you don't cook much but I'm sure you can bake something delicious from a simple recipe.

Good luck and have fun!

These are the best chocolate cookie I've ever had.

Umm, that sounds pretty lame...like something a little kid would want to do for Fathers Day. You'll end up with a big, nasty chocolatey mess.

Either REALLY make something or stay out of the kitchen and do something you actually have a talent for.
