Does tomato paste work similarly to flour in terms of thickening?!

no, if you use too much you can mess up your flavors. you will need a little flour : )

also the tomato paste does not contain starch to thicken it anyway, so don't try ; )

It won't thicken as much as flour would, since tomato paste is still mainly liquid.

no it doesnt, but Rachel ray uses chicken broth milk and a little flour...in her chili... works well for her.

my mother in law took a cup of flour and added water until it made 2 2/3 cups and slowly added it to her soup , doesnt change flavor , and thickens very well
