Does parika expires, what about curry, does it expires?!

Question: There's nothing worse than flavourless paprika. I prefer to buy in small quantities more often to ensure I've got the freshest and most flavourful spices for my dishes. The only spices I buy in larger quantities are those I use just about every day - cajun seasoning, chili powder, garlic powder, etc.

Whole herbs and spices last much longer than crushed or ground forms. Many consumers prefer to buy the whole form and crush or grind as needed for greater freshness. Herbs and spices can be crushed with a mortar and pestle, by using a rolling pin with spices between two cloths, or by using the back of a spoon in a cup.

Check ground or crushed herbs and spices for freshness at least once a year. If no aroma is detected after crushing, the seasoning needs to be replaced. Mustard seed and poppy seed aromas will be difficult to detect. Buying the smaller size instead of the economy size container will save money if the large package is not used while it is still fresh.

Store away from moisture. Dampness causes caking and a loss of quality.
Store in tightly covered, air tight container.
Use clean, dry spoons for measuring.

Store in a cool place.
Do not store in a window or in sunlight, or near heat sources such as the cooking areas or the dishwasher.
In hot climates, store spices such as paprika, red pepper, and chili powder in the refrigerator to maintain quality.

Storage Life of Herbs and Spices
Seasoning Storage Time
Whole 2-5 years
Ground Spices 6 months-2 years
Leafy Herbs 3 months-2 years
Dehydrated Vegetables 6 months rice

All spices, including the ones you mentioned, expire. The effect of a stale spice is that it has a dull musty smell.

Spices are best ground fresh and used while all the essential oils and delicate aromatic organic compounds within the spice are still there.

I've read somewhere to replace spices after one year. I've had spices for numerous years, no problem in taste.

Any food stuff has a limited life. It came from plants and you know how quickly they die. It may still be alright to eat but will not have much flavour as time goes on.

Yes, all spices will expire. Not only will they look and smell bad but many can be harmful to your health..It really is important to keep your spices updated just like you do you other foods. Even Baking Soda that we use in the refrigerator goes bad and please do not open up a box to use as a freshener and then try to use it for cooking purposes too. That is not healthy either.

Guess, we can all be a Little slack on the staples! Even though they last much longer they all will expire eventually

Paprika or curry and all the spice... if they are not store and keep right they will out of spice smell and taste. You can call it expired. The colour also dull. It easy to see whether the spices we store still can be use or not. The first showing is the colour it will change. and if it powders or ground it will stuck together just like the dough. So put it into the bin not to your cooking. Store it in the dark place. And remember went buying, don't buy so much.buy what you needs.
