These are my Grandma's: 2 eggs - 1 cup sugar - 1 teaspoon salt - 1 cup milk - 1 teaspoon vanilla - 2 teaspoons cinnamon - 2 teaspoons nutmeg - 3 Tablespoons melted butter - 4 cups flour - 1 rounded tablespoon baking powder mix all ingredients together, if the batted it to soft to handle add more flour , then Roll out on floured board about 1/4 inch thick cut with donut cutter fry in lard at 375 degrees
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted before measuring
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons vinegar and enough regular milk to make 1/2 cup
Into a bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg; beat well. Stir in vanilla.
Add combined vinegar and milk alternately with dry ingredients; stir just until well blended.
Roll small quantities of the dough at a time, to about 1/3-inch thick. Cut doughnuts with a 2 1/2-inch cutter and let stand for about 10 minutes. Fry in hot fat at about 365° to a nice golden brown. Turn once. Fry only 3 or 4 batches at a time to keep fat from cooling down. Drain on paper towels. Makes about 18 doughnuts
And Enjoy! Hope this helps

Has some of the BEST recipes... i LOVE Paula deans with frozen biscuits.
You can cheat and buy a can of biscuits and cut a hole in them, deep fry them and then put powdered sugar or whatever else on top of them.

Here's what my mom did when we were growing up.
Get cans of those dinner bisquits, just the plain ones. Remove from can, poke a hole in the middle (which was what us kids got to do) and enlarge it a little bit. Deep fry in oil. When browned, removed with slotted spoon and set on foil. Have powdered sugar or brown sugar or sugar and cinnamon (whatever you like on your donuts) in a paper bag. Put the hot donuts in the bag, close the bag and shake. Remove donuts from bag and voila-quick easy yummy!

Doughnuts
2 cups scalded milk
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar, divided
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons yeast
4 eggs (beaten)
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
7 cups sifted flour
Glaze
3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup cold water
Mix together ingredients for glaze.
Melt butter in hot milk, add 1 tsp sugar and salt. Allow to cool.
Beat in yeast, nutmeg, eggs, remaining sugar, and 3 cups flour.
Add rest of flour (dough will be sticky).
Knead for 5 minutes then allow to rise for 1-1 1/2 hours.
Roll out dough, cut into shapes.
Do not re-roll dough, then allow to rise for 30-45 minutes.
Heat oil to 365° and fry 1 - 2 minutes on each side or until brown. Toss in the doughnut holes first, let those cook, and then proceed to cooking the donuts.
Let them cool on a paper towel - helps get the glaze to stick.
Dip in warm glaze.
You can use cake batter to make cake donuts. I have donut pans so they can be baked instead of deep fried (less greasy). Use a mix or make cake batter from scratch.
Glazed Doughnuts recipe
2 packages active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup scalded milk
1/3 cup shortening
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
2 eggs

Soften yeast in 110 degree F warm water.
Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt, then cool to lukewarm. Add one cup of flour and beat well. Beat in softened yeast and eggs. Add enough of remaining flour to make a moderately soft dough. Mix well.
Place in a greased bowl and turn to grease the surface. Cover and chill for 3 hours or overnight.
Turn onto slightly floured surface and roll to 1/3-inch thick.
Cut with floured doughnut cutter. Let rise for 30-40 minutes until very light. While dough is rising, combine all ingredients of the glaze in a bowl and set aside.
Fry in 375 degrees F deep hot fat for 2 minutes or until brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels and dip them into the glazing bowl while warm.
