Can you freeze shelled walnut pieces?!

Question: and for how long can you freeze them for?
do you have to put them in a special wrap?

yes, and it's the best thing to do because of the oils in them. they should be good for 6 months to 1 year.
either the package they came in or a good zip freezer bag.

we had a pecan tree growing up and always froze the shelled nuts. We used two 1-gallon size freezer storage bag (double bagging). They can last up to 6 months, but ours never lasted that long. Walnuts should be about the same.

Yes, you can, they stay a lot fresher that way too. I just put them in a freezer bag, I usually use them within a year. I have a friend who keeps her nuts in the pantry and has used them over many years. I think they lose all their moisture and the oils dissapate. I like my way better because when they come out of the freezer all those essential oils are still there.

Yes, you can store in the freezer or just in the refrigerator, as I do...up to 6 mos.

I do it all the time to keep them fresh. I usually use a freezer bag to keep them in,.
I use them up before 3 months has passed...

Most definitely!!! We do it all the time when we find walnuts on sale (they are so pricey these days..!).

Sometimes we leave the shell on, but most times, we usually take it off. We then store the nuts in a ziplock bag - easy isn't it?

I wouldn't say there's an expiration date, however, you can't leave them in for years and expect them to be fresh :)

You can freeze them. This is natural. Animals gather nuts & store them in cool, dry places over winter.

Key thing when freezing is make sure they are dry and as close to air-tight as possible. Use freezer bags that guarantee no air leakage. Also, don't deep freeze or you'll ruin the flavor.

Yes you can freeze them

As Long As You Like

Nope

Weather TheyWill Be Good Wen You Take Them Back Out, That ii Dont Know

;)

As a rule I always freeze nuts. Nuts have oil and oil spoils. I also keep the following list in the freezer

Ginger - fresh unpeeled or peeled

Bread crumbs

Saran wrap - Never sticks to itself, always comes off super easy.
