Am making a cake what side of wax paper do I pour the batter onto?!

Question: The shiny slippery side or the other side.

Answers: The shiny slippery side or the other side.

It needs to be parchement or greaseproof, not wax, waxed paper is for wrapping things in. You need to use the right one for baking, does it say for baking on package? Otherwise use tin foil and spray it with pam oil spray, doesn't really matter which side, I spray mine then dust with a little flour.

The slippery side though i use parchment paper to bake a cake

did your recipe call for putting wax paper in the pan? I can't stand the waxy smell of that stuff at high temperatures. Why not just grease and flour the pan instead

soft n slippery 1

Use parchment paper or grease and flour the pan. I have never heard of using wax paper in the oven...the wax will melt on either side.

Dont use waxed paper to bake with......Parchment is sold in a box at the grocery stores....and if you ask the bakery dept for one piece of Parchment paper I am sure they would only charge you about a quarter. Waxed paper is for wrapping items in after cooked, or before freezing an item, or to keep things from sticking, or measuring sifted dry ingredients to pour into a container to re-measure after sifting....Waxed paper has other uses....not for baking in the oven....
