What can I substitute for cornstarch?!

Question: I found this recipe for fortune cookies and I would like to make them. But I have no cornstarch and can't go to the store.
Is there anything I can substitute for it?
It's only a tablespoon.

Ive made fortune cookies before. They are pretty picky about ingredients. Wait until you can get the cornstarch.

try normal flour, that should be ok

Nope...not for fortune cookies...

I dunno because cornstarch has twice the thickening power then flour so I don't know much flour you would need to use to equal 1 tbs of cornstarch but it would probably mess your recipe up that way.

Arrowroot cookies are lovely and crisp, so if you have any arowroot on hand, you might try that. Use only 2 teaspoons to replace the 1 tablespoon.

You can try without it, but you can't really sub for it in baking. Maybe try using 2 TBS of vanilla pudding mix(not instant) if you have it. It is about half corn starch and half sugar. Muffin tins are good for letting them cool in the right shape
