Should I add ground nutmeg when I make my basil pesto?!

Question: I'm making my first ever batch of pesto. Ingredients are: basil, EVOO, walnuts, parmesan, garlic, salt, pepper, and anchovies (though I haven't decided whether or not to use them yet). Would a little pre-ground nutmeg go well with this? Opinions please. Thanks.

Nutmeg is my go-to spice whenever I want to add a little something extra. I think a shake would be perfect in some pesto.
By the way: I love anchovies, but I dont think Id add any to your basil pesto... just a thought.

I wouldn't. You can always experiment next time, if it doesn't come out "quite right."

Pesto doesn't really need nutmeg, but it does give it a distinct flavor. I personally don't add nutmeg to my pesto.

I only use nutmeg in sweet things. I don't know how it would taste in a pesto.

Yeah, I agree with the above posters. I wouldn't put nutmeg in, it's not really made for pesto I don't think. And the anchovies would just give it a salty taste so you might want to try it.
