I want to bake a potato, how do I do it?!
please, very urgent.
Answers: I know I need to wrap it in foil. but do I need to season it first, or when do I add the salt / butter.

First you're gonna need a potato.
Second you're gonna need an oven.
Wash the potato.
Turn the oven on.
Put the potato in the oven.
(everything else is optional.....poke it, season it, wrap it...it doesn't matter)
The potato will bake, regardless of any extra attention.
Good Luck...experiment...do it your own way!
Enjoy!
No, don't season it or anything first. Just poke holes in the potato and don't wrap it in foil too tight, the steam needs to be able to escape.
Cut it in half. Then slice each half about 1/2 in deep. Butter it in between and add just a little garlic powder. Wrap it up and bake at 350 for about 70 minutes.
I place potatoes into the oven not wrapped in foil so that the skin will get a bit crispy. Poke a few holes in each one and season after they are done and ready to be eaten.
The best way to make a baked potato is:
scrub the skin
poke holes in it with a fork or knife (like 10-12 holes)
rub it down with Olive oil (any oil will work, olive is just the best)
if you would like you can sprinkle that with salt, preferable sea salt or kosher salt
place directly on rack.. no pan or anything (no foil!)
Stick it in the oven at 400 degrees for about 45 mins to an hour... Start poking it at 45 mins and if it falls of the fork, its done.. you can also take a towel and "squish" it to see if its squishy, if it isn't then it is not done yet.
Then, cut it open and add your butter and toppings.
Wash potatoes, stab at least 3 times with a fork (to let steam out).
You can wrap with plastic wrap and microwave.....until tender
Or you can wrap in foil and bake in the oven until done.
Or..... just bake it without a wrap on it.
dont season it with butter but just add a little salt and pepper on top but cover the potato with oil so the salt and pepper can stick
Potatoes cooked wrapped in foil are not really baked. They are steamed. To make a baked potato, wash the potato and dry it off on paper towels. Rub a couple of drops of oil into the skin, poke it twice or three times with a fork (keeps it from exploding in the oven) and put it in to bake at about 350F. Depending on the size, your potatoes will take anywhere from 45 min to 1.5 hours to bake through. You can tell that it is done by squeezing the two ends slightly towards the middle. If they give, the potato is done. (Don't forget to use a pot holder!) If you need your potatoes done faster or you are baking them to go with something else that is cooking at a different temperature, feel free to adjust the cooking temperature and time. At 425F they'll be done in about half the time.
First I scrub and wash my potatoes.
Next, I fill a ziploc bag with a little extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, pepper, and any other spices that I'm craving. Then I put the potatoes in the bag one at a time and roll them through the oil/spices combo.
From the bag I put them directly in a preheated 375 oven for 90 minutes.
When they're done, I use a fork to perforate the top and then pop them open from the ends.
Delicious!
no. poke holes in it...microwave 4 minutes...then add things
Yeah I would say the easiest way is to scrub the potato, rub salt all over it and then wrap it in a wet paper towel and microwave it for 4-7 minutes.
I wouldnt eat a white potato though... sweet potato with no sugar, just make it the way you would a regular one. Its much better for you.
