Why even cook it?!

Question: I am having a beautiful Filet Mignon for dinner tonight. Usually I buy from Henry's Market, but today I decided to go all out. I went to the local butcher and got 2 fresh fat Filet's. Now I am sitting here looking at these 2 works of art and wondering what the point of grilling them is... Is there any reason I shouldn't just eat them 'as is'?

Note: Save all the 'unsanitary' and 'health safety' answers. I am not a sissy like most people in the world. I have a strong stomach that can handle more than most. I'm just interested in your opinions about which way is better. Thank you

Even though you have a nice tender steak and I like mine rare as well, I like it cooked just s bit for the texture. I think that just a little bit cooked is a bit easier to chew, even if it's the most tender melt in your mouth cut of steak. Sprinkle a little bit of Montreal Steak Seasoning on both side for a great flavor.

If your not interrested in the sanitary and health reasons to not eat raw meat, I say dig in. You may want to warn a loved one to grab a bucket and warm up the car though,

No matter how strong your stomach is, e.coli is a risk that could kill you. It's on the cut surfaces of beef, which is why they should be cooked.

That said, if you still don't care, go for it. I love my steak still mooing, so I fully understand where you're coming from.

why don't you just pan fry it on the stove. simply sear it on both sides and voila!

You could try it as steak tartare . . . Mmmmm. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Original-St...

As it says in the link, the steak needs to be fresh, but it sounds like yours is.

--EDIT-- You might want to get details from your local butcher, with regard to the slaugherhouses from which their meat comes. Raw beef should be perfectly safe if it comes from a small packing house that uses sensible hygiene practices. It's the large packing houses you have to watch out for.

Go for it. The faster you get a tapeworm, the sooner you'll lose all that pesky weight that seems to plague the general american public nowadays.

Edit: Hey, stupid. My husband is 5'!1" and 160 or so. That's not 1% body fat. That's physically impossible. You would be dead, or so cold you would be unable to type. Have fun pretending to be Adonis on Y!A.

Yum...I would sear it and chow down....
I just gotta have the outside a little brown....Enjoy!!!!
