How can I steam buns without a steamer?!
Answers: I'm trying to steam Chinese style steamed buns. However I don't have a steamer. Is there a way to steam the buns without buying a steamer?
find a deeper pot, wok, whatever with cover.
lay 2 forks, spoons, chopsticks at the bottom, with a bit of space in between.
add a little bit of water.
put a plate, bowl, whatever on top of the your forks.
put your buns in.
steam.
eat.
Yummy!
This technique can also be used with a microwave. just make sure all the containers and tools you use are microwavable.
I like that damp paper towel idea too. I should try that sometime.
Crumple up a bunch of tinfoil and cover the bottom of the pot with it. Add a small amount of water, but don't cover the foil. Put some more foil on top, then your buns. Just make sure you use plenty of crumbled foil and not so much water that the buns get wet.
Do you have a splatter screen that goes over a frying pan. Just put that on a pot boiling water and put your buns on that.
Uh you are talking about hamburger type buns right?
Wrap in a damp paper towel and microwave for a few seconds...
