Good substitute for dry white wine?!

Question: I'm making a wild mushroom soup that calls for 1/2 cup of dry white wine. I'm not 21 yet so I won't be able to purchase alcohol. Either way though, I'd much rather have something else because my younger brother might have some as well. Anyone know is good substitute? I've heard white grape juice but is that good? ...especially since this dish is more savoury than sweet?

Any suggestions will be great!
Thanks much!

The alcohol will burn out when cooking, just so you know, next time you want to make something with alcohol and you're old enough to buy it.

You can use chicken broth and it will work fine, 1/2 cup isn't that much.

Enjoy!

vegetable or chicken stock will work just fine, but grape juice is too sweet and will ruin the soup.

I always use chicken broth in place of wine in recipes--it seems to work just fine.
