Here's how I make mine:
2 slices Texas toast (best but not a must)
1 egg
1/4 C milk
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Beat egg add milk, cinnamon, sugar, vanilla, mix very well

Heat skillet or griddle, to about a medium heat, so probably around a 3 to 5 on your stove. Put in a little butter or margarine. Dip your bread on both sides let it soak up the wet mixture really well, then put in the skillet, bake until golden. Serve with butter and syrup.

First, use stale bread. If you want to make them for breakfast tomrrow, set out a few pieces of bread tonight and leave out to get stale.

Use medium heat, and dont' walk away when you've got the toast down on yoru skillet or griddle. It only takes an instant to burn.

Make a mixture of 2 eggs, 1/2 cup milk, teaspoon of vanilla extract and a teaspoon of regular or powdered sugar. If you like you can also add a dash of cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg.

Beat with wire wisk until well-mixed. Heat skillet over medium heat (4-5) and spray with non-cook spray and/or a little butter (about 1 teaspoon).

Dip bread into egg mixture and place in pan, checking after about 2 minutes to see if golden brown. Flip to 2nd side when desired color (golden brown) is reached and cook side two. Remove from pan after two or three more minutes and sift powdered sugar on top (or syrup).

set out bread slices the night before (so they get a little stale-like). For my hubby & I, we usually set out about 8 slices of bread.
The next morning, I will whisk together about 2 eggs, vanilla extract (to taste), a couple tsp of milk, and pepper.
Dip the bread in egg mixture.
On pre-heated pan/griddle (can be sprayed first), place bread slices...heat about half way...ck them, but usually about 2 minutes later, you can flip them.

They are very tasty! You can add butter and syrup. Or, a personal favorite...butter w powdered sugar and cinnamon. Yum Yum!! : )

What you need:
* 3 Eggs
* Bread
* Milk or a milk substitute
* Ground cinnamon (optional)
* sugar
* syrup or anything you want on top

Steps

1. Crack the eggs into the bowl, then beat them with a whisk.
2. Add 1/2 a cup of milk (or half-and-half) to the eggs, and mix using a fork or whisk.
3. (optional)Add two shakes of ground cinnamon, then mix them with the eggs.
4. Put the pan on the stove, turn the stove on medium heat (thats about 5, or 6. on your dial) , and add butter to the pan (let it melt and spread it around) so that the bread will not stick (you can also use non-stick sprays). Turn the heat down to low (about 3,4 ) once the pan is heated sufficiently.
5. Take your choice of bread and soak both sides of the bread in the mix, then put the bread into the pan.
6. Cook until lightly browned on both sides.

This is a French toast recipe with eggs and bread.
INGREDIENTS:

* 4 eggs
* 1 teaspoon sugar, optional
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 cup milk
* 10 to 12 slices white bread
* butter
* maple syrup or other syrup

PREPARATION:
Break eggs into a wide, shallow bowl or pie plate; beat lightly with a fork. Stir in sugar, salt, and milk.

Over medium-low heat, heat griddle or skillet coated with a thin layer of butter or margarine.

Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl or plate, letting slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side.

Soak/coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time.

Transfer bread slices to griddle or skillet, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown. Turn and brown the other side. Serve French toast hot with butter and syrup.
Recipe for French toast serves 4.

1. try not to use fresh bread, not moldy though
2. thick cut bread works even better
3. dip the bread in eggs mixed with a litttle milk
4. put on stove setting about 5-6
5. flip them of course
6. use butter instead of spray

Use a good solid bread, not the doughy soft kind.
Whisk egg & milk batter thoroughly, add a little corn-starch.
Let the batter sit for the bubbles to settle out.
Use a fairly low heat, so as not to burn, spray pan with oil.
Dip each slice on both sides, in batter, on shallow plate.
Brown in pan, a couple at a time, not touching.
Save on plate in warming oven if possible.
Serve with maple or corn syrup & whipped butter or cream.

I like to use thick slices of crusty french bread, but you can use whatever bread you like.

Whisk 2 eggs, 1/2 cup milk, 1/8 tsp. vanilla, and about 1/2 tsp. cinnamon in a shallow dish.

Place about 4 slices of bread in the mixture. If you're using a thick, sturdy bread, you can let it soak for 5 minutes on each side. If you're using white sandwich bread, just dip both sides.

Meanwhile, heat a pan to medium-low (about 2-4 on your stove). Melt a little butter in the pan and place the bread slices in. Turn over when lightly browned on the bottom. Cook on the second side until lightly browned. A heavier bread will require a longer cooking time over lower heat, while white bread will need a shorter time over higher heat.

Mine's somewhat different.

My mom always made a sandwich - 2 slices of white bread and our choice of jam with maybe banana slices inside. Then she would dip the sandwich in the egg/milk wash and fry in a hot buttered pan on medium heat (about 5) until it was golden brown. Because the jam inside was hot and sweet, there was no need for syrup. I never saw single slice French Toast until I was in my late teens.

A friend makes her single slice version with 2 or 3-day-old plain sweet coffee bread - what might be called "milk bread" or "Pulla" (Finnish Coffee Bread).

5 is a good temp...non stick pan....butter is great but margarine will do.
2eggs with 1/4 cup milk 1 tsp vanilla beaten Very well.dip bread and put in hot pan 30 secs or till brown...turn and repeat.

here's a little trick I've learned. instead of using milk?
try using flavored coffee creamers. i.e "International Delights" french vanilla works well, as does hazelnut.

i like using the following recipe, but i never end up using an exact amount, so just use your own judgment....

eggs, slightly beaten
sugar
milk (or flavored creamer)
a little vanilla
Texas toast style bread, or Vienna bread, or french bread.

mix all ingredients together (except the bread)
dip the bread into the mixture.
fry in a lightly oiled frying pan or skillet on medium heat, turning once, until golden brown (or your desired doness)
top with powdered sugar and syrup.
