Homemade onion rings recipe?!


Question: Deep Fried Onion Rings
3 cups buttermilk
1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
Salt and pepper to taste
6 medium Vidalia onions sliced 1/4 inch thick
Oil for frying
4 cup flour
In a large bowl combine the buttermilk and baking soda with salt and pepper. Peel onions an slice thin. Add to buttermilk mixture and stir well to submerge all onions. Set aside, unrefrigerated for 2 hours. In deep fryer add 1 quart of oil and heat to 375. Working in batches place about 1/6th of the flour in a large bowl. With your hands remove about 1/6th of the onion from the buttermilk. Don't let the liquid run off. Add to flour mixture and mix well with your hands until onions are coated. Separate them by hand and lay them on the deep fry basket. Lower into the hot oil. Stir every two minutes. Remove when onions are golden brown and crisp about 6 minutes. Drain on paper towels. And sprinkle with salt.

Chili Sauce:
1 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons chili sauce
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Onion Rings:
2 medium white or yellow onions
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
Vegetable oil, for deep frying
Salt

Preheat oil to 360 degrees F.
To make the chili sauce, combine the mayonnaise, chili sauce, chili
powder, and cayenne in a small bowl and stir well. Cover and chill
until serving time.

For the onion rings:
Slice the onions into very thin rings and separate the rings. Spread
them out and sprinkle with seasoned salt. Place the flour in a re-
sealable plastic bag. Put the onion rings, in batches, in the bag,
close tightly, and shake until the onion rings are coated. Let set for a bit,before frying.

Pour the oil into a Dutch oven. Fry the onion rings in batches for 3
to 4 minutes, until they are brown and crispy. Remove with tongs and
drain on paper towels.

Taste and season with salt, if necessary. Serve with chili sauce.
