I have the same problem sometimes. I tried the microwave thing, that help some but I found the best thing to do is use a cheese grader and grade the suger back to its former glory.

You can use it you just have to smash it up. It got hard because a lot of moisture got to it. Keep it in a nice dry place well wrapped.

Moisture sucks out of brown sugar really fast...usually on the bag it describes how to re-moisten it again.Try heating it in the microwave

Put it in a zipper bag and either add a damp paper towel or a damp piece of white bread. It will be good in a couple of days..... Either there are small holes in the original packaging or you didn't seal the bag tight enough after using it. Good luck.

It got dried out..... not enough moisture....

next time, put a piece of regular white bread at the bottom of the container before you put the sugar in. this keeps it nice for a long time.

you can try this with the sugar you have now, but i don't think it can save it.

It definately got wet or absorbed a lot of moisture. You can chopping it up really fine or even using a grater if it's really hard, but it should still taste the same just not quite the same consistency. Next time, seal the bag in gallon size zip lock bag or a tupperware container before puting it in the pantry.

keep it in the fridge helps it soften

well you could put the brown sugar into a plastic bag and put it in the refrigerator and when you take it out, leave it for about 10-20 mins. so it could get moisturized.

Moisture

Put a chunk of it in the microwave for 10 seconds at a time until the consistency you wish. With a new pack, put in an airtight container with a piece of bread.

yes you can save it

Be sure to store in air tight containers

You can put the piece of white bread in the bag or I use a lettuce leaf sometimes and that works faster. Don't let it stay in longer than a day tho. Your sugar dried out and the moisture needs to be replaced. You can buy discs at kitchen stores that you soak in water and put it in with the brown sugar and it lasts forever. They can be found for $1 to $3.

warm it up in the microwave for a few minutes and it will be soft to use.

put a piece of bread or a cracker in a baggy with the sugar and it will soften up.

Smash it, HARD! 2 ways to keep it from doing that are to 1eaither close the bag really tightly and keep in a cool place,or 1 buy a brown sugar bear its an orange plastic bear that you stick into your AIR TIGHT container with with the brown sugar it will keep it moist and soft mmmm
