Do you ever "try" the food while you're preparing it it?!

Question: E.g.:
-"try" a few spoons of the soup in the pot
-dip your finger into the cream sauce in the pan
-eat a piece too many of the garlic bread that's meant to be eaten at the dinner table?
-Like the spoon of the brownie mix, not once but twice?

You know what i mean. Do you ever "try" more than you should while preparing a meal for other people (and maybe yourself)?

Yeah, all the time.

It seems like I eat more cooking than when I'm all done and ready to actually eat it.

When I make mashed potatoes, I lick the beaters and eat spoonfuls out of the pot. =]

I mean I'm cooking because I'm hungry right?
So why not eat a little while your cooking. =]

absolutely!!!besides making sure things taste right, it's one of the benefits of being the cook...(when I'm cooking for a bunch of people i keep plastic spoons nearby for tasting so i don't "double dip")

I always try the food.
I'm only gross about it when it's for my husband and me.
If it's for somebody else I'll use a clean spoon each time, but I always check the seasoning! How else will I know if it tastes all right?
As far as eating too much of what's supposed to go to the table--only on the rare occasion that I deep fry something (like zuchini or onion rings--and that's because they taste so much better fresh--AND I tell my husband to join me, so that doesn't really count...)

all the time

Of Course i do you need to see if it tastes right dont you and better try it first

Yes.................it's MY prerogative and I'm sticking to it....!

No worries there then!..........x

I do "taste" the food I am preparing to see if it's flavored enough and that it tastes okay. I don't really eat more than I should before serving though.

yes I'm quilty, especially with cake or brownie mix...yummm

Always-You can't trust a skinny cook!

All the way... trust me... i'm getting cubby because of

- try a big spoon of the soup in the pot
- dip my finger into the cream sauce in the pan
- eat a few of everything that ready for dinner...lunch..
- Like the spoon of the brownie mix. not twice but until i drop it in the dish washing
- Eat raw cookies dough.
- Eat left over food...

Ohhh... no... i'll must stop it.. maybe next month

Always. When its time to serve, I'm full. But, no dipping fingers in sauces, my daughter doesn't allow it. I only do it when she isn't looking.
