Toad in the hole with self raising flour?!


Question: i want to make toad in the hole.. but i don't have plain flour... is it okay to use self raising?
or does any one have any good recipes?

All the recipe of toad in the hole are using plain flour..

So no plain flour.. for me ...
yes you can use self raising flour.. no different of the taste.. maybe a little bit fluffy and a fat batter look cause of the raising agent. Other than that.. not a problem..

Should really be plain but I don't suppose it'll make a huge difference to the overall taste. Remember to serve with a good onion gravy!

Isn't Toad in a Hole just an egg fried into a hole cut in a piece of buttered bread, in a skillet? Why would you need flour for this? Maybe I"m confused.......
