Can you prepare apple crumble ahead of time?!

Question: I want to make an apple crumble on Valentine's Day, but I don't want to spend the whole evening preparing it. Can you make the whole thing ahead of time, ready to pop into the oven? Or could you at least just prepare the apples?

Because it contains fresh fruit, I wouldn't make it more than a couple days in advance. Either bake the entire dish a day or two ahead of time, or prepare your ingredients ahead of time by measuring out your dry ingredients and put them all together when you're ready to bake. The apple slices could be done ahead of time if you pour a generous amount of lemon juice on them and seal in a zip lock bag. The juice keeps them from turning brown.

Yep, you can make the whole thing. Put a little lemon juice on top of your apples so that they stay crispy before you put it in the oven. The lemon will cook out and you'll be left with apple crumble.
