Guys, what do you make of this?!

Question: So, I'm kinda bummed 'cause I cooked for my boyfriend for the first time last night(we've been dating for about 5 months) ...like, I'd made a few things here and there before (spinach and artichoke dip... cheesecake etc) But last night I cooked like a full meal... meatloaf, cheesy bacon mashed potatoes and 'homestyle' mac and cheese... It didnt turn out the way I'd have liked, but it was a NEW recipe I'd never made before, he said it was good and went for seconds, cause he was pretty hungry.

The wiser thing, I guess would have been to make something I know how to make to PERFECTION...

What do you think? Would you eat something if you didnt like it... We're pretty honest with eachother and he said it was good, but gave me a 'C' LOL... Would you tell your girfriend if you 'hated' something she made?

OK.... odds are he probably didn't care for it too much, but don't worry about it, and here is why:

You will have plenty of time to figure out what your guy likes. He probably wants you to cook for him but he has lil niches that he likes that you may just need to figure out. Best advice i can give you is to ask his mother what he likes. If you dead end there then take him out a couple of times and pay close attention to what he orders, how he orders it and if he adds spices and what types of spices to what. Men are simple after you learn how to please us... we really are! Just watch out for the ones that never seem satisfied... they are trouble... Good luck sweetie.

NEVER tell your gf something sucks within the first year. ;)

That is a guy rib sticker dinner you made! I would have loved it. If he wasn't all that impressed, try perfecting each of the recipes and making each with something diff as you guys grow. You both can watch the evolution of the recipes! Cheers!

LOL...that reminds me of the first time I cooked for my (now) husband! I made green beans as a side to the meal and he ate everything and asked for seconds. Several months later, he finally told me that green beans make him gag and he can't even stand the smell! I swear, men will say anything!

There's nothing wrong with experimenting, but when cooking dinner for someone else, it's a good idea to have already made it before and it's a REALLY good idea to ask them about their likes and dislikes...hehehe.

Oh, BTW...we've been married almost 19 years. I still don't make green beans unless he's not home. :)

if the person was someone i loved i would totally eat whatever they made even if i hated it.. the person cooking went to a lot of effort.. a little advice for you would be to never cook something the first time the day you need it.. if you can practice cooking it a few days in advance to make sure you got the kinks out. if you can't.. then i would stick to making what you know in order to ensure a perfect meal. have many recipes if you need help.

He wouldn't have gone for seconds if he didn't like it. Did you ask him why he gave it a 'C'? You ought to. Every grade should have a criticism or compliment to back it up.

My wife's hobby is cooking and I am honest with her whenever she cooks. He should be honest with you if you've been together for 5 months. Maybe he gave you the C based on menu selection, not how it was cooked. Ask him.

Some people really want to please you & not hurt your feelings especially when you've gone thu so much trouble. You had a feeling he did'nt really like it so I'm sure your right.I personally would wait a little while & at a later date mention I did'nt like it when the conversation was apprropiate for it. But in a very nice way so you knew I really did appreciate the work & thought behind it.

Oh yea my husband tells me if its not one of his favs but I do the same. But when we where dating it was a different story he said it was good but always gave a low grade too. But turns out he was looking to get me a bit miffed so I would try pouncing on him as punishment which ended up with us having a pillow fight..lol. So dont worry about it, k just tell him thanks for the honestly I appreciate it and what you like changed in the recipe if you want me to make it again. If he suggest anyhting try it and if he says dont make it again you know its not one of his favs and can try something else. But heres what I do before trying a new recipe on my husband I read him the ingreedients listed so he knows whats in it and if it sounds good to him we try it. It might work for your BF too. Good luck and hugs hun we all have our good days in the kitchen and bad days even us professionals..lol

no never tell her you don't like it or you will get i a fight and break up its not worth it

try telling him you think i tasted bad and make him something he will like maybe stake or pot roast something he will like not meatloaf and mac and cheese not the best meal to make to much girl food trust another guy thats been there
