Virgin Olive Oil?!

Question: Trying to be healthy, I bought some virgin olive oil to use on salads. But now I am wondering, wouldn't it be just as good to drink a little each morning instead? How much would be a healty amount to drink? A teaspoon or maybe a tablespoon?

Cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil is what you want. Virgin olive oil is not as healthy.

Olive oil is great drizzled on foods and salads. You can also use it for cooking as long as it isn't very high temperature frying.

I don't think it would be a great idea to take it like medicine. One of the benefits of olive oil is that it is replacing less healthy fats already in your diet.

three tablespoon per day if you can deal with the taste

3-4 Tablespoon per day of Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO). But it would not taste good, so hense, the salad etc.

I wouldn't really recommend drinking it... When people say it's healthy, generally they mean it's a healthier alternative to other oils. The monounsaturated fats aren't too bad but olive oil is still an oil, don't forget that. Use it when you need it, but don't start drinking it like it's tea.

If you're going to just drink oil, try flax seed oil. It's healthier, supplying omega-3 oils also found in fish. But what's wrong with salads, and what else would you put on it that would be tastier (not to mention healthier) than vinegar and oil? Ranch? Adding to taste on a salad or in something else will give you a proper dosage, about a tablespoon. Drinking oil...seriously?? Eat a healthy filling breakfast if you want to be healthy and have enough fuel for the day.
