What should the first meal in your new home be?!

Question: Something really simple, because you've been moving all day, or get take out for THAT one, and make the first REAL meal something classy and celebratory? If you chose the second, what would you make? I have a FABULOUS gas range and a double oven. I'm itching to break them in.

When we moved into our house, the first meal on day 1 was KFC. We just had enough energy to take a hot bath and go to bed. The next day, we spent unpacking boxes and putting things away. Once the house was set up and everything was in its place (day 3), we had Caesar salad, broiled New York steak, rice pilaf, and steamed broccoli. Then we went to Baskin Robbin's and had a sinful hot fudge sundae.

Pizza and Beer :)

make some slammers. they are easy and you can use da stove to toast da bread and heat da meat and onions. atleast thats what we did.

If I were you I'd go for the classic turkey dinner with all the trimmings, to take advantage of your fab new kitchen. Have fun!

Spaghetti with garlic bread and a green salad. You could even make it ahead of time and then re heat it in your new home. Spaghetti acutally tastes better the next day. Get a good bottle of wine to to toast your new home.
