I would like to make my own "hamburgers for my grandchildren, who like all kids love them,?!
Answers: But I would like to know what is in them. Tasty but healthy. Any Ideas please.
Hobo Hamburgers
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 cup cracker crumbs
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 cup grated cheese
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
2 teaspoons Lady's House Seasoning, recipe follows
4 medium red potatoes, sliced thin
1 large onion, sliced thin
4 carrots, peeled and cut into strips
4 slices bacon
In a large bowl combine ground beef, cracker crumbs, egg, lemon juice, cheese, green pepper and House Seasoning. Mix well. Shape into 4 patties.
Place each patty onto 2 layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil (enough to cover and close). On each patty, place potato slices, onion slice, and carrots. Slice bacon in 1/2 and place both slices on top. Seal aluminum foil tightly and cook on campfire or in a preheated 350 degree F oven for approximately 45 minutes.
House Seasoning:
1 cup salt
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup garlic powder
Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months
get ground beef but make sure it isnt TOO low in fat or they wont grill well. youll need some fat. shape them into patties. If you want to you can add some worcester sauce to the meat for flavor.
Mince, onion, salt and pepper.
Steak:
1 1/2 lbs. ground hamburger
1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp garlic powder
salt and pepper
1 med onion sliced
Gravy:
1/4 cup flour
2 beef bullion cubes
kitchen bouquet brownong sauce 1/4 tsp
water
salt
pepper
Mix hamburger, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and flour together. Form into patties. Brown on both sides. Remove from skillet.
Saute onion in the same pan, adding a small amount of oil if needed.
After sauteing the onion, remove from skillet and add flour for gravy. Stirring constantly, brown the flour. Stir water into the browned flour to make the gravy.
Add boullion cubes, salt and pepper. Thin with water for desired thickness.
Add Kitchen Bouquet if gravy isn't brown enough.
When gravy is made, put steaks and onion in gravy. Simmer for about 30 to 45 minutes, checking often and adding water to keep gravy from becoming too thick.
Serve with french fries, rice, mashed potatoes or your favorite side dish!
Get some mince and bind the mince together in burger shape sizes with some beaten egg. You can mix in whatever spices etc you want. Dead simple. (Turkey doesn't make good burgers because turkey mince is actually very bland - stick to beef mince or even lamb mince). A good thing about making your own burgers is that you can make them as thick as you like. Once their done you can even stick them in the pan with a bit of BBQ sauce made out of ketchup, honey & worcester sauce before putting the burgers on a bap.
get some beef that's 90% lean and shape them into patties.

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers
SUBMITTED BY: Trudi Davidoff
"This is a simple and delicious recipe. After making them the first time my husband said 'no more' to beef burgers. These are really good - any cooking method may be used, and they freeze very well. The recipe can also be used for meatballs or meat loaves."
INGREDIENTS
3 pounds ground turkey
1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1/4 cup finely diced onion
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, mix ground turkey, seasoned bread crumbs, onion, egg whites, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. Form into 12 patties.
Cook the patties in a medium skillet over medium heat, turning once, to an internal temperature of 180 degrees F (85 degrees C).
I make hamburgers at home and I use the super lean meat, I will add alittle salt and pepper, I will also use some bread crumbs soaked in milk. I want my burger to taste like a burger, so I don't add anything else that controls the flavor., Just squish together and patty them out. Another thing is, I swear by my George Foreman grill. Even with my beef being super lean, there is fat that will still drip off. On the Foreman, the burgers aren't overcooked, nor undercooked, they are great!
I make mine by combining minced beef to salt, pepper, garlic, onion, smoked paprika, thyme, mustard seeds and an egg then shape them into burgers, chill in the fridge and bbq or grill them. Add chilli powder if you like them spicy
well it may not be healthy but it's fun to have something in the burger...like a little cube of cheese or even bacon crumbles....just make two thin patties....place the cheese or bacon (or both) on one pattie...place the other pattie on top and seal the edges...the kids will think...yay hamburgers...but when they bite into them...cheese and bacon...what a nice surprise!!!!!
And like all kids, I bet they don't eat nearly enough vegetables, either.
Make some carrot burgers, or some lentil burgers. Taste very close to the meat version and they get a -ton- of good-for-them veggies in it, too.
I suggest whole wheat buns and no condiments. Let them appreciate real food for what it is.
Use ground sirloin meat. Sprinkle a little bit of season salt, grill or fry. Serve french fries with it. Let them put on their own condiments. Tomatoes, lettuce and onions.
Use lean ground beef, mix in 1 egg
bread crumbs(if it's 2 sticky, add more crumbs)
chopped onion
1 clove garlic
salt & pepper
about 2 Tbsp. ketchup
chopped parsley(fresh)
chopped fresh oregano
When u shape the burgers make them slightly larger than the bun cuz they shrink & will fit the bun when done.
Use whole wheat buns.
for kids, the simpler the better has been my experience.
season meat with an all-purpose seasoning or just use salt, pepper, garlic, maybe a few dashes of worcestershire.
make patties and grill.
have condiments and toppings to the side, ketchup, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion.
and of course buns with sesame seeds on top!
burger
A simple basic burger recipe that provides the base for all other burger recipes. A good place to start. Makes 4 basic burgers.
Ingredients:
1 egg
pinch of salt
black pepper to taste
1lb ground beef
3 tbs fine dry bread crumbs
4 slices of American cheese
4 burger buns
Method:
This couldn’t be any simpler. Whisk together the egg, salt and black pepper in a large bowl. In a separate bowl mix the breadcrumbs into the beef using a fork or your hands. Then simply mix the two mixtures together and shape into 4 burgers using your hands.
As with most burger recipes you have the choice of grilling or shallow frying your burgers. The cooking time depends on the thickness but for an average size burger it should take 6-8 minutes on each side.
Add one cheese slice as soon as you take your burgers off the heat to allow each slice to melt. Serve with your own choice of topping.
After conquering this very basic burger recipe be sure to browse our other recipes for something more adventurous and rewarding.
Don't eat them myself but my nephews love them, whatever ingredients you use let your grandkids make them for themselves I've found this great fun and the kids love it.Good luck.
