What are some easy and somewhat fancy recipes for a picky eater?!
Answers: I want to make a really nice dinner for my husband on Valentines day, he wont eat most vegetables or fruits, (That is unless I hide them really well in the food). He also wont touch anything that he says has a weird texture. Does anybody have any good ideas for somewhat fancy but easy recipes that he will eat? Please no "Just make him eat it" answers, I have tried that!!! Thank you!
He sounds a lot like my husband.
Here are a few of my favorite things to make.
Shepherd's Pie or a casserole by just omitting the pie crust
( great meat and potato dish)
Layer mashed potatoes and cooked ground beef that has been simmered and browned with beef stock and cheese into a pie crust or casserole dish. cook in the oven at 375 for 45 minutes. i usually put bread crumbs and cheddar cheese on top.
You can always make a pot roast in the crock pot and a simple gravy from the juices made with just some corn starch and spices. Serve over mashed potatoes and include a bread or roll of some type.
Scalloped potatoes are always a good side dish.
My husband also likes cube steak that is dipped in an egg wash and then flour, salt, and pepper and then fried in a pan on both sides and then finished in a 350 oven for 15 minutes.
Good Luck and I feel your pain.
Well I need some more info... What kind of food does he like to eat? I can do some pretty great stuff with, well most anything! But I do kinda need to know what he likes and WILL eat.
you know better than any of us..You had to have known that when you married him.....
seafood ??? we need an idea so to give you a variation . what will he eat ?
stuffed chicken breast, tossed salad with lettuce and carrots and his fave dressing and twice baked potatoes
pound the chicken breast just a little to flatten. Then carefully cut a slit in them. Stuff a slice of his favorite cheese and a thin piece of ham in there. if he doesn't like ham, skip it. Season with salt and pepper and bake in oven or pan fry till done but not dry. Cheese will ooze a bit so baking is actually better.
bake potatoes till done, cut in half the long way, mash the potatoe insides with butter and season to taste. Refill potato skins, top with shredded cheese and bake till cheese is bubbly.
Add candles on the table and his favorite dessert and maybe a glass of wine.
Get a heart-shaped pan and make a homemade pizza with his favorite toppings. You can make your own sauce and puree LOTS of veggies in with the tomatoes and he'll never know he's eating them...lol
