Got any romantic meal ideas for Valentines?!
Answers: I'd like to cook a romantic meal for my love and I was thinking maybe scallops would be nice, but I don't really know what to have with them...
PAN FRIED SEA SCALLOPS
large sea scallops
butter
minced garlic
lemons
parsley
paprika
Clean scallops.
Melt 3-4 tbsp butter in skillet. Add scallops and minced garlic to skillet.
Allow to cook for a 3-4 minutes, turning over. As scallops begin to brown slightly, squeeze fresh lemon over scallops.
Sprinkle with parsley and paprika to taste. Cook to desired browness and add additonal lemon and butter if needed.
Do not allow scallops to burn. Add more butter if needed for moisture. Let scallops turn very brown on each side.
Serve alone or over your favorite pasta.

CREAMY POTATO SOUP
1 c. water
2 c. diced potatoes
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. butter
1 c. diced onion
2 tbsp. flour
3 cubes chicken broth
Pepper to taste
Boil water and salt. Cook potatoes. Melt butter and fry onions until soft. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Add chicken cubes, milk, pepper, and cook until thickened. Add cooked potatoes and their water.
ASPARAGUS WITH HOLLANDAISE
2 to 2 1/2 lb. asparagus
Boiling water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter, melted
Hollandaise Sauce
1. Bread or cut off tough ends of asparagus. Wash well under cold running water. (If asparagus is sandy, scrub with brush. With vegetable parer, scrape skin and scaled from lower part of stalks.)
2. Bunch stalks together; tie with string or use rubber band. Place upright in deep saucepan. Add boiling water (about 2 inches deep) and salt.
3. Return to boiling, and cook covered for 15 to 20 minutes. Pierce lower part of stalks with fork to see if they are tender. Be sure not to overcook.
4. Drain asparagus well, being careful not to break stalks. Arrange in heated vegetable dish; pour butter over all. Serve with Hollandaise sauce.
Why don't you just make his favourite meal instead of trying to make something unusual and complicated, it would be much more appreciated, you know what they say, "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach"!!
have some asparagus, these are ment to help your sex drive aswell! :)
Sea food is always romantic as its pretty much finger food. Feeding each other can be very erotic indeed. To be honest You really cant beat a really good quality steak. red meat really gets the juices flowing washed down with some good red wine. Red wine is renowned as an aphrodisiac which on Valentines cant be a bad thing.
Whatever you cook your man I'm sure he will be more interested in what you are planning for his dessert lol You get my drift lol.
good luck have a good'n.
If you cant be good then be careful lol
Depends on what he likes, but some cold pasta salad with some little shrimp (canned or not) would be nice - I have two versions of recipes if you want to email me. I serve it with salmon all the time.
Also, a spicy noodle or rice veggie stir fry thing...
And depending on what he likes, a little cuke and onion salad on the side with a little italian dressing - or you can do the whole side as a double baked, spicy seafood potato thing (or not seafood too) - I got me some inexpensive ideas if you want to email me from my profile :)
take him out for chips
there was a good recipe for scallops on this morning (the programme) done by Jean-Christophe Novelli yesterday, here:

me and my boyfriend are having a picnic on valentines day =D
Chips and a saveloy!!
salmon, asparagus, and dark chocolate, or pumpkin pie for dessert. pumpkin pie was rated the #1 food afrodisiac even more than chocolate. i know i was surprised too.
OK, this my usual romantic first dinner. All you need to ask is whether they like Italian and it even covers them being vegetarian. The starter can be made in advance. The main course does have to be cooked at the time, but this gives you a chance to show off your culinary skills. Dessert can be dispensed with or even "taken elsewhere", if you know what I mean. The entire meal also has a final "twist", which has never yet failed to impress.
Starter is a mozzarella and tomato salad. Cut the cheese and a big beef tomato into slices and arrange artistically on a small plate. Sprinkle chopped fresh basil over the top and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. Serve with focaccia bread. The original recipe calls for sliced onion – I wouldn’t.
The main course is a simple pasta and tomato sauce. I use fresh spinach and ricotta tortellini, which are half green and half - well, pasta coloured. Advise your partner that, according to legend, tortellini is supposed to be the shape of Venus' navel*. For the sauce, just lightly fry off 2 medium onions and 2 cloves of garlic in 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add a 400g tin of chopped tomatoes. Put the pasta on to boil now. Reduce the sauce down a bit. At the end, sprinkle on some more chopped fresh basil.
Now, drain the pasta, add it to the sauce and gently toss them together. Explain to your partner that this is because an Italian would always "bring the pasta to the sauce", not just plonk a dollop of sauce on top of the pasta. Serve with another bit of focaccia bread to mop up any sauce. For wine, I recommend a Valpolicella.
Dessert is just three scoops of good quality ice cream, one each of strawberry, vanilla and mint. If your partner has eaten enough, this course can be dispensed with in a suitably nonchalant manner.
The "twist" is to ask your partner if they have spotted the theme to the meal. "Its Italian" is the obvious answer, which is close. The answer is that all the courses are the colours of the Italian flag.
If all goes according to plan, my "breakfast to impress" is orange juice, scrambled egg with smoked salmon bits on wholemeal toast and coffee.
* A later version of the legend says its Lucrezia Borgia's navel. Given her family’s reputation for poisoning people, I'd stick with Venus.
I agree with choc lovers answer; I'm doing steak & chips for my man , cos I know he will really enjoy it. If for example egg & chips isyour beloved's favorite, give him that, cos you really will have thought how to please him.Forget the scollops !!.And thats romantic I think.Enjoy !!
asparagus salad with roasted peppers and goat cheese
2 lbs medium asparagus, tough ends removed
2 red bell peppers
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
2 tablespoons capers, drained
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons chopped tarragon or dill
1 garlic clove, very finely chopped
1/2 small red onion, finely chopped
salt and pepper
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 ounces mild goat cheese
12 kalamata olives, pitted and chopped
shavings parmigiano-reggiano cheese
In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the asparagus until bright green and tender, about 3 minutes; transfer to a colander and refresh under cold water. Drain and pat dry.
Roast the peppers directly over a gas flame or under the broiler, turning, until charred all over. Transfer to a medium bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let steam for 10 minutes. Peel the peppers and cut them into 1/4-inch-thick strips.
In a medium bowl, stir together the vinegar, capers, mustard, tarragon, garlic and onion; season with salt and pepper. Whisk in the olive oil.
Arrange the asparagus on a serving platter. Lay the roasted pepper strips over the asparagus and drizzle with half of the vinaigrette. Crumble the goat cheese on top. Garnish with the chopped olives and the Parmigiano shavings and serve, passing the remaining vinaigrette at the table.
The recipe can be prepared through Step 3 up to 8 hours ahead. Refrigerate the asparagus, peppers and vinaigrette separately.
I love scallops in creamy white wine sauce.
Couldn't tell you the amounts because I make it up but it's just pan-fried scallops with white wine reduced down to half, then cream and a little mustard and black pepper added to the pan. I normally serve with linguine pasta and asparagus.
Or you could make him lobster thermidor which uses a similar sauce, but with parmesan cheese sprinkled over each lobster half and then grilled.
Yum!
