Dessert Question? Cream Cheese Frosting?!
Answers: I was thinking about making a Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese frosting, does that sound like it will be good together. If not I definitely want to use Cream Cheese frosting so what kind of cake should I use, please supply the recipe if you have a suggestion.
The frosting sounds great with a Red Velvet Cake. I use a very simple recipe because I don't have a lot of time. Everyone loves this cake and I also use the cream cheese frosting.
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 ounce liquid red food color
3/4 cup water
1 pudding-type cake mix (white or yellow)
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon butter flavoring
4 tablespoons buttermilk powder
1 tablespoon white vinegar
Heat oven to 325F.
Mix together cocoa powder, red food color, and a small amount of the water forming a paste. Add remaining ingredients except vinegar. Mix 2-3 minutes on medium speed until well blended. Add vinegar and blend completely. Pour batter into prepared 9" x 13" cake pan and bake for approximately 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting is awesome. I also put a few chopped pecans in the frosting when I do red velvet.

I think that combo sounds good, but cream cheese frosting is also good on carrot cake!

Beat for 2 minutes with an electric mixer set at medium speed. Beat in the eggs and 1/3 cup sour cream and mix for another 2 minutes. Pour batter into prepared pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 35 minutes, or until cake springs back lightly when touched. Cool for 5 minutes, then remove from pans and continue cooling.
When cold sandwich together with apple sauce and cover with cream cheese frosting.
I cant imagine cream cheese on this cake. this recipe for frosting comes with the original cake recipe and it is delicious. If you want a cream cheese frosting, go with spicy cakes or a carrot cake.
