Can one bake muffins with out a muffin tin, using just the paper muffin cups?!

Question: Or will it only work using a tin for support under the cups? I don't have a tin, but want to make muffins for my boyfriend for Valentine's day. I also don't have the money right now to buy any kitchen wares, but I can afford paper muffin cups.

Yea, definitely use the foil muffin liners, they work fine without a muffintin.
The paper ones SOMETIMES work, but it really depends on the batter/recipe and you can end up with HUGE mess.

I don't know about that. Why don't you buy the muffin tin instead of the cups. You can bake in them easily...it's not very expensive either.

Um, I wouldn't think that you could. Do you have a cake tin so you could make a cake instead?

It needs the metal container to support the shape as it bakes, else it will push the paper open and spread apart. The somewhat solid muffin mixture becomes more liquid like when exposed to the heat of the oven, so it needs something to help hold its shape while baking.

If you have ceramic cups, such as those for coffee, then you could place the muffin mixture in there to bake.

You can but you have to by the paper cups with the silver cups also.

A muffin pan is only like $5 or less at a dollar store.

Use foil muffin cups, not paper and put them on a baking sheet and don't fill them very full? If you have a dollar tree they might even have a muffin tin for $1! I bet they do! If you are short on cash, it might be better to just make brownies or a cake instead of potentially messing up a batch of muffins that didnt have enough support? Happy V-day!

quit being silly GO next door and ask..
the paper cups will fold out flat with out some support.
Take a file folder cut strips - - staple in circle - - set the paper cups in ,,and - - bake

You absolutely need something to support the paper or foil cups, otherwise they will open up and spill all the batter!
