If you were going to put cheese on these stuffed peppers, what kind of cheese would it be?!
ground beef or pork browned in soy sauce w/ sauteed garlic
mixed with shredded carrots, celery, water chestnuts, green onion. if I use rice it will prby be a boxed fried rice, maybe plain white.
use mixture as stuffing for red bell peppers.
so, if you were gonna put cheese on 'em, what would it be?
I'm really thinking of using a peanut sauce. I'm just curious if there is a cheese that could even top this?
Answers: I am playing around with a recipe for "fast-food chinese" style stuffed peppers-

Cheese is not eaten in China, it is considered to be spoiled milk. I definitely would not add any.
Cabbage, on the other hand, would be nice. You could add some shredded green cabbage or bok choy to give your filling more body, texture and vitamins.
As for rice, plain white rice would be great. It would take on the seasoning from the rest of the ingredients. Fried rice, especially from a box, would introduce other flavors and salt and would be too much for this. The peanut sauce sounds like a nice touch or maybe a sesame-based one would work too.
Have fun with this tasty experiment!
I would skip the cheese...it seems like a great meal...cant think of a cheese that would fit.....peanut sauce sounds like the ticket.
Since dairy isn't part of typical Chinese food, I don't understand why you would put cheese in it.
However, if you wanted to, I would melt cottage cheese in with the fried rice for richness - that would be the most likely use of a cheese in this recipe.
Yeah, it sounds really good without the cheese, but if I HAD to put cheese on it...no, I wouldn't. This just doesn't need cheese. Save me a plate, by the way.
Try chedder- or make a thick cream sauce with melted cheese on it.
I have to agree with the others. Keep Chinese recipes Chinese, do not add any cheese.
I would really like it topped with chow mein noodles. That would be just the ticket to set it off..........
Change is good,be different...If you want cheese add it...
Maybe shredded mozzarella......
