How long does it take to make cupcakes? In a pre-made mix already and then add frosting?!
Pre-heating the oven will be 10-15 minutes
(Mix Batter & Set-up Pans while you pre-heat)
Baking Time will be about 17-22 minutes
Cooling Time will be about 30 minutes
Frosting Time will be about 5-10 minutes
Enjoy!
Answers: Each boxed recipe varies just a bit and they all let you know how long to bake each configuration of pan sizes and types. I suggest you DO use paper liners and remove them from the hot pan immediately after baking so you can frost them as quickly as possible when they are cooled down.

about 30-40 min from mixing to finished baking... icing takes longer as you have to wait for them to cool completely.
I just typed in the directions for Betty Crocker's yellow cake mix for another question. They take 17 to 22 minutes to bake. Of course, it takes about 10 minutes to put them together and preheat the oven; then you wait 10 minutes after they're out of the oven to take them out of the muffin pans; then you have to let them cool completely before frosting (or the frosting just melts into the cupcakes) and then the time to actually frost them.
Bottom line it probably takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours from starting to make the mix/preheat the oven to putting the frosting on the last cupcake. But most of the time is waiting time...and they taste soooo good!
Oh I made some yesterday... about 5-8 minutes to find and mix the ingrediants, then 20 to bake, 10 to cool, and 10-15 to frost.
We made cupcakes in foods class at school yesterday in about 45 minutes. Frosted with sprinkles even. We had the batter mixed up and in the tins in no more than 10 minutes and the cupcakes took 18 minutes to bake. We removed them from the hot pan as soon as they came out of the oven (use paper muffin liners for this purpose). We then turned on a fan to cool them even faster. If you aren't worried about making the frosting look pretty, that takes no time at all.
