Can I subsitute magarine for unsweetened applesauce for cookies?!

Question: I'm baking sugar cookies that calls for magarine, but want them to be healthier. Can I use unsweetened applesauce or does to have to be sweetened? Thanks a bunch :)

I read in an article that unsweetened applesauce can be substituted for margarine as a lower fat option in cookies and cake. I can't remember the publisher of the article, but I did try it with the cake and it turned out fine. (i never tried it with sugar cookies)

you cant subitute butter for applesauce try a low calorie one

Sorry, no.

You can, but you can also use half applesauce and half margerine to preserve some of the consistency, but still half the fat.
