The cookie dough is generally harder than cake dough, and as you don't beat it, it is less fluffy. So you need to use baking soda to make them rise. You can skip this in cakes and use just baking powder instead, but I wouldn't advise that for soft cookies.
However, try adding a little milk, about 3-4 tablespoons if you have no other option!
Good luck!

Yes, use the baking powder. Yes, they look like they will be soft when you bake them.
Baking powder is just a mixture of cream of tartar and baking soda. Your cookies will turn out fine if you use just a little more baking powder and leave the soda out.
i love those cookies and yes just use baking soda, i think they are the soft cake-like ones right?
anyways those are awesome so good luck!
in order to get the cookies right you have to use both or the cookies wont rise enough and they will taste salty and i think they are the soft cookies like walmarts
i think so... but i think they will be hard instead of soft cookies
You can substitute baking powder for baking soda. Baking powder is basically baking soda, cream of tartar, and cornstarch, so you'll have to use 2-3 times as much baking powder to compensate for the extra ingredients.
I don't know anything about Walmart cookies, but I know the recipes on the allrecipes site are excellent. Use the ingredients they call for
.
Anyway, you are asking your question in the wrong place. There is a comment or review section under the recipe where if you ask your question you will get good informed answers.
Bon apetit!
You can substitute baking powder in place of baking soda (you'll need more baking powder and it may affect the taste), but you can't use baking soda when a recipe calls for baking powder. Baking soda by itself lacks the acidity to make a cake rise. However, you can make your own baking powder if you have baking soda and cream of tartar. Simply mix two parts cream of tartar with one part baking soda
