Cream Cheese Frosting?!


Question: I made cupcakes for my work and i frosted them with cream cheese frosting. Do i need to refrigerate them? I don't want my cupcakes to dry out, but i also don't want to give all the people i work with stomach problems! HELP!!!

No, it isn't necessary to refrigerate the cupcakes if they will be eaten within a few days. If they are refrigerated, the icing will become very hard. Keep the cupcakes in an air tight container. However, if you made more cupcakes than can be eaten in a few days, it would be wise to ice the ones that will be eaten, then refrigerate the remaining icing until you need it. Bring the icing to room temperature before icing the rest.

Yes, they need to be refrigerated w/ cream chz frosting. Stand toothpicks in them, then wrap loosely on top w/ plastic wrap, making sure to seal around the edges of whatever dish/pan they are on.

no you don't need to put in the fridge that will dry them out. Just wrap lightly but completely with foil and you can leave them on the counter, it won't make anyone sick.

yes- but there are shelf stable frosting mix as well, so it really depends-- better play it safe

I would say yes, I think that they should be better coold then hot and melted.
