How to defrost 1 lb of frozen hamburger?!

Question: About how long would i put it in the microwave to defrost?

Also, do you need to rotate it at any time while defrosting it in the microwave?

I usually just microwave it at full power for a couple of minutes, rotating a few times is good.

You can use the actual "defrost" feature, but it just takes longer.

Anyhow, you're going to cook it completely anyway- so it doesn't really matter that much if it's not evenly cold or warm.

A better way than microwaving it, is to put the hamburger in some warm (not hot) water in a sink. It will defrost about 1-2 hours and not start cooking like it does when you microwave it. If you have to microwave it start with a few minutes then scrap off parts that have thawed out. Continue doing this until it is all soft.

Not all microwaves have the same power, and it may vary with the shape of the frozen meat. If your microwaves has no guide I recommend you do it on half power for a couple of minutes at a time so you don't cook it.

"I use the defrost all the time, it is much safer than leaving it in the fridge. just put the meat in and defrost for 3-4 min and rotate if you micro doesnt have a turntable. Terri in Baudette"

push the defrost button on your microwave most will ask the weight, just put in 1 pound . if your microwave does not have a turn table in it then half way through go ahead and rotate the hamburger. It takes 9 minutes in my microwave.

put on defrost for 1 min...turn... then repeat until it is as thawed enough to break apart..

the best way is to take out your meat let sit until defrost or put it in the refrigerator

Warm water is the best way. If you really take the time to notice, the meat is tougher if you defrost it in the microwave.

If I'm just making something like goulash or some dish where it is not made into patties, I just put it in the pan on low heat and scrape off the cooked parts and keep turning it that way.
