I'm getting ready to put a pot roast on the slow cooker this morning?!

Question: do I need to brown it first?

Thank you and have a wonderful Valentines Day!

Thank you and have a wonderful Valentines Day!

I usually do. It will add a good deal of flavor, but really you can do it either way. If you brown it, pour the liquid you are using in the roast into the pan you browned the meat in first so you can get all those rendered off bits to add even more flavor, then pour it from the pan to your slow cooker.

Don't ruin it by boiling it. It's a holiday fire up the grill.

I do, but if you can't add a bit of browning liquid like Gravy Master. It increases the flavor and improves the color.
Not a lot, about a half tsp, or less.

I usually do but if you are in a hurry it will be fine without browing it first.

ya u hav 2 brown it
if u dont theres no problem but if u brown it then it tastes better n crispy

You can but you dont have to. I made a roast in my crock yesterday. I just threw it in the pot, and tossed in a package of onion soup mix and water. Tossed the lid on it and cooked it on high for 5 hours. Took the roast out, added corn starch to the liquid (soup mix) for gravy.
It was awesome!!!!!
