Help!! Trying to make dessert for Valentine's?!

Question: I am making a strawberry pie, and the recipe calls for whipping cream. I made a big mistake and accidently bought half and half. Is there anything I can use to substitute? BTW, I will have to whip the cream...it's not just for cooking.
Thank You :)

You can but you will need to freeze it first here are the basic directions:
Pour half and half into an 8x8x2-inch baking pan. Freeze milk for 20 to 30 minutes or until soft crystals form throughout milk. Pour milk into a chilled mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on high speed for 2 to 3 minutes or until soft peaks form (tips curl).

2. Add lemon juice and vanilla; whip to mix well. Fold in 1/3 cup sifted powdered sugar. Serve immediately. Makes 2-1/2 cups.

I have done this with regular milk and canned milk - just remember to chill the bowl and blades and make this right before you serve. Good Luck!

no

I'm afraid that unless you have a package of non-dairy whipped topping or Cool-whip, you're going to have to go back to the store.

You might top the pie with a merangue instead. It would look pretty cut and provide a sweet, foamy topping. Be sort of silly if the pie has a top crust.

If you have cool whip use it. If not, then put the pie in a stemed glass and layer with the half and half. It will be good, but not what you intended..

Meringue.....i usually use egg whites, sugar, and some cream to make it. Comes out pretty good....
