I want to serve an onion soup tonight with my meal, what's your best recipe?!


Question: Cajun Onion Soup

1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Creole-style seasoning
1/4 cup spaghetti sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 (10.5 ounce) cans beef broth
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Slice the bread in thick slices and place on the rack in the oven. Heat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Check bread periodically throughout following steps and remove from oven when golden. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Cook onion in butter, stirring, until golden, 15 minutes. Sprinkle flour, pepper, garlic powder and Creole seasoning over onion and continue to cook until flour is golden brown as well. Stir in spaghetti sauce and soy sauce, cook 1 minute more. Stir in beef broth and simmer 10 minutes, or until onions reach desired consistency. Place slices of bread in ovenproof bowls and top with Swiss cheese. Ladle soup into bowls and top with Parmesan. Place in oven until Parmesan melts. Serve at once.

take 8 good sized onions and fry them untill they are wilted and browned add 2 cloves garlic minced in a deep pot
add 2 cans onions soup and 1 dry onion soup pkg then fill it with beef broth one or 2 lg containers,then add some about 2 to 3 tsp boulion or soup base (beef) and salt to taste after ,simmer untill done and the onions are very tender,,add 2 tsp a1 sauce and 2 tsp werstershire sauce and 1 tsp soy ,
make bread croutons from pump,rye and french breads cut in cubes drizzle with oil and bake the cubes till dry,,when soup is done pour into bowl add croutons top with provalone cheese and any other that is stringy like motz etc

10 cups of red onions
4 cups of water
pinch of salt
pinch of pepper

boil all ingdreiants in pot! serve with a bunch of cheese over the top.
