Oh, I feel for you! My baby is now 17 months old! We also changed our diets to no meat, no dairy over a year ago...One of my favorite meals is a big leafy salad (not filling on it's own...) with brown rice, peanuts (or any nut), craisins, TONS of avocado and your choice of dressings. We always put beans on it--but you could pass on that. If you go for whole grains, and food with a lot of fiber, you will get filled up, and have plenty of nutrients for your baby. Good luck--after 17 months, she is eating a ton of solid food of course, but still nursing--and has never had any colicky symptoms (thank goodness!) Good luck, hun! Remember, every stage passes! We're on the MOLARS!! :(

You have whole grain foods, fruits, vegetables that aren't in the gassy category, and meats. Still quite a range of foods.

Try raw fruits and vegetables. Also, things like chicken noodle soup, mashed potatos, etc.

Pasta with steamed vegetables.
Broiled chicken.
Fresh fruit.
Frozen fruit blended with soymilk.
Pretzels.

your guess might be wrong. maybe your baby's belly pain is not from what you are eating. what you eat does not necessarily convert into breast milk. not unless that is what experts (pediatrician or lactation consultants) told you. but staying with meat and veggies have always been good for you. grains like oatmeal or toasted bread with pbj for breakfast.

Maybe some pasta with vegetables. Its hard to know what you consider gassy foods as what causes one person gas may not cause another person gas. Broccoli has calcium in it and lots of vitamins. You should also try burping the baby real good. Lay him with his stomach across your lap and rub his back until he gives you a real good burp.

I ate whatever I wanted while breastfeeding....just stayed away from alcohol and medications....and my baby turned out perfect! :D

Well, vegetables that don't cause gas like Tomatoes (though they are acidic). Green Beans, Salads with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar on it.

Pasta with tomato sauce but, no cheese. Meat like steak. Potatoes that don't have milk added to them.

Can you tolerate breads, typically these have a bit of dairy in it but, if you can then a peanut butter sandwich.

Soy or Almond Milks - they taste better nowadays. Especially 8th continent.

Don't forget all of your fruits, most of them don't cause gas.

You really are cutting out Legumes, Vegetables from the cabbage family like Broccoli though cucumbers can cause gas, there is a 'European' cucumber, it is usually wrapped in plastic that is not supposed to cause gas.

Milk is hard to cut out because, so much stuff has milk in it but, there are many yougurts and ice creams made with soy milk available and some of them actually even taste good.

Also remember that what is it about dairy that they don't want you to have, if it is the sugar in milk then you can have eggs. If it is the protein then eggs might not be a good idea though, you could check with your doctor about that one.

try soy--milk, tofu (takes on flavor when seasoned with most anything), veges, and fruits. You don't need actual milk, or actual meat--if you can muster down chicken noodle soup, or broth based soups, you might find your belly feeling better, as well as keep nutrients coming in for the little one.

Chicken, pasta, rice, fish, salads, potatoes, vegetables....bread, cous cous,

What you eat has nothing to do with the babies problems. Your body takes nutrition and turns it into what your body needs to continue. It also produces the milk for your child. Your spicy taco doesn't shoot out you teet. Come on now ! Do you have a pediatrician ? Ask him about your babies troubles. Don't stop eating what you want because of the baby. Your body doesn't work the way you believe it does. True cigarette smoking ,alcohol or drug use effects the fetus. But the milk produced by your body isn't the same plumbing. If the babies problems continue seek medical attention. Make sure it's not colic or gas ?

Why can't you have dairy?! You need that rich calcium it provides. If you are lactose-intolerant, take Lactaid before drinking milk or eating dairy products.

Keeping a food journal may help you pinpoint foods that bother your baby right now. WRite down what time you ate which food, then what times you nurse. If your baby gets fussy, you can easily go back and look to see if he objects to a certain food. Challenge him w/ that food again, and if he's fussy again, avoid it.

Meats, pastas, fresh fruits and veggies like corn, potatoes, carrots, squashes, strawberries, eggplant, PNB, breads, muffins, dried fruits,

Avoid cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, possibly melons, etc. for now. You can probalby add them back slowly once your baby is 6 mos old or so.

Breastfed infants usually turn into less picky children (what a blessing!) because they've tasted most foods before already when nursing! So keep up the variety....
