Question: Okay the recipe calls for 1/4 pound of butter and then says (which is equivalent to one stick)

the stick butter i have is 454g which is 1 pound of butter
while 1/4 pound (like it calls for) is 113g.

When they call for 1 stick of butter, they mean 113g. So you can use 1/4 of the 454 g block that you have.

To reiterate:
1/4 of a 454g block equivalent to 1 stick of butter equivalent to 113g

I have to point you to a really good conversion calculator:

I've used it many times, it is highly accurate.

1/4 of it. Just measure it out, and ignore when the recipe says "1/2 stick"

Use 1/4 pound (113g), one stick is the standard, but maybe you have another pack size, just use 1/4 pound.

Your "stick" of butter is not a stick at all, it is a pound of butter. Use 1/4th of a pound of butter as the recipe calls for.
