Cake with Yeast NOT EGGS please?!
Answers: Has anyone got a recipe for a cake that contains yeast, but not eggs. I need an egg free recipe for my sons birthday cake and have previously tried ones from here and other sites but they don't rise and are soggy, and look unapplealing, help give this little monkey a 2nd Birthday to remember.
This recipe doesn't contain yeast but is egg free. I have made it for my grandson and it always turns out beautifully
Egg free Chocolate cake.
INGREDIENTS
560 g sifted plain flour
600 g white sugar
85 g unsweetened cocoa powder
235 ml vegetable oil
710 ml water
15 g baking soda
3 g salt
45 ml vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), grease and flour a 9x13 inch tin or two sandwich tins.
In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, soda and salt. Add sugar and mix together.
Add oil, water and vanilla and mix thoroughly.
Pour into a 9x13 inch tin. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean.
These don't have yeast but look good!
QUICK CHOCOLATE EGGLESS CAKE
1-1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup cold water
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp vinegar
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Spray a small baking pan (8x12) with vegetable spray or Baker's Joy.
Combine dry ingredients directly in the pan. Mix all the wet ingredients
In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients leaving out the vinegar until the final step.
Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring together in pan until well combined. Stir in the vinegar rapidly and immediately place pan into preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 min.
Optional: You can stir in 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips just before baking to make a richer cake with melted chocolate bits or swirls.

1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon lime juice
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 cup water (warm)
3/4 cup oil

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
Make a little space in the center and por in oil,lemon juice,warm water & vanilla essence.
Mix well in one direction until you get a nice smooth batter.
Pour the batter into a greased,lined baking tray.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
I have one called Hard times chocolate cake from the depression Era I have used it and have not had a problem
3 cp flour
1/3 cup cocoa
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 cp. oil
2 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp vanilla
2 cp water
stir together dry ingredients into a 13x9 pan. make 3 wells in the ingredients and put vanilla in 1, oil in 1 and vinegar in one. pour the water over all of it and mix well with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. When top of cake is touched lightly, it will spring back when done
Good luck. I have made this several times and the instructions are weird but just follow exactly, no substitutions and it will work.

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
2Prepare an 8-inch-square cake pan by spraying with non-stick spray like Pam, or greasing.
3Set aside.
4In a large mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
5Add all liquid ingredients and combine with whisk just until blended.
6Pour into prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes or until tester comes out clean.
7Serve with Fluffy Frosting or your favourite cake icing.
8Note: to make a layer cake, you'll need to double this recipe and bake in two pans.

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, cocoa powder, and baking soda. Mix well with a fork, then stir in oil, vinegar, and vanilla extract. When dry ingredients are thoroughly moistened, pour in cold water and stir until batter is smooth. Stir in chocolate chips and pour batter into prepared pan.
3. Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on a rack.
