What kind of beer should I use to cook corn beef in a crockpot?!

Question: I will be preparing some corn beef soon and i have never made it before, i have a good recipe but it just calls for 2 bottles of beer and it doesnt specify what type to use. I seen some recipes call for guiness, is that the only type you can use? I don't care for guiness and have always been told not to cook with a beer that you wouldn't drink. When I make italian beef i use newcastle to cook the beef in-and it turns out great. Would newcastle work for corn beef as well? Any suggestions or tips on good beers to use would be awesome.

I always heard not to use light beers,it's a flavor thing. Your darker beers are better for cooking. If you liked the result of your beer in the past...result will be similar no matter what you cook in it. good luck.

Guinness

guinness or something really dark and rich

I'd use a good lager, and one bottle of porter or a chocolate stout. I never heard of using beer in corned beef, but I do use it with country pork ribs all the time.

I use whatevers in the fridge and its never guiness but you can still taste the flavor of the beer.
