Catholic also, Love tilapia! I usually put a tblsp. of "Smart Balance" in a little measuring cup with a clove of crushed fresh garlic. Zap until melted in the microwave then spoon or paint onto fish. Sprinkle about a tblsp. of Panko breadcrumbs on top and bake @400 for 10 min. then broil until breadcrumbs crisp on top. Delish! (salt & pepper to taste)

I am having fish today, I'm a Catholic, I was baptized Catholic, and will always be Catholic=]

Defrost talapia and place in a greased baking dish. Spray with a bit of pam, season with salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you enjoy. Drizzle a little low fat milk around the filets and bake till they flake easily. Serve with a fresh garden salad and green beans, steamed cauliflower or brussel sprouts.

Scollop's, my husband is having coconut crusted Tilapia!

fry it in a semi deep pan.....season it with a little squeeze of lemon and sprinkle old bay on it. maybe add a few other spices you like. mmm im getting hungry and im having fish tonight!!! after i go food shopping

Eating steaks tonight. Not catholic, and don't think I could be if I had to eat fish every Friday.

Tilapia is a nice mild fish, healthy would be grilling it , salt and pepper, a little dill, and Lemon.

Season the fish and saute it first in canola oil (and spices) on the stove in a steel pan with a steel handle then put the pan with the fish in the oven to complete the cooking process. Side dishes that are healthy and filling are salads such as greek salad (no olives) made with an oil & vinegar dressing...if you make it yourself go easy on the oil and you will be fine. The feta cheese adds a nice flavour and fills you up as well. I find brown rice is also really nice with fish...just add some chopped onions and use chicken broth instead of water and it is much tastier. I am like your husband and love the red meat and taters and gravy so find it hard to adjust to a more healthy diet but as long as you incorporate healthier substitutes which are filling and also tasty at the same time it helps make you not miss the other stuff as much. I find when I am really craving red meat I make a beef stir fry...slice up a steak thinly and marinate it in teryiaki sauce and add a ton of veggies and serve with rice...it is really great tasting and you get your red meat fix without eating a huge amount of it.

We're having fish today, but we're not Catholic. Since we never eat tilapia (they grow it in a cage, gross) I don't have a recipe for you. We're cooking flounder but this recipe might work for you:

Since I don't like the taste of eggs I don't dip in the egg batter. We used this recipe for snapper once and it turned out good.

Unfortunately yes. I woke up this morning and put a pot roast in the crockpot, only to realize an hour later it's Friday (mom's a diehard Catholic too, I'm atheist).

Hmmm...Thaw the tilapia. Then wrap it in parchment paper with your favorite veggies (carrots, green and red bell peppers, potatoes, etc) with some lemon juice and black pepper and roast until it's done (the flesh will just flake with the touch of a fork).

EDIT: Issues with timing? Set the oven at 375 degrees and let the fish cook for about 25 minutes. Depending on how thick it is it will take more or less time. Check the fish when it turns white all the way through and when it flakes.

last friday i made some whole wheat lasagna with eggplant and zucchini (found the recipe on the box of lasagna)
this week we are going to have cheese tortellini with pesto and next friday i am going to make this tilapia

its been hard for me to come up with meals my family will eat during lent....and i used to be vegetarian!!!

I cook almost all of our fish in a glass baking dish. I spray it with Pam then lay the fish in it, then lightly brush with olive oil. I like Rosemary, so I usually put that on mine. Tommy likes that blended pepper mix on his. The Boy likes his fish in a stick. LOL
BTW, I'm not Catholic and my family still ate fish every Friday and I still do almost every week.

That fish on Friday thing got thrown out of the Church a long time ago.
