INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
PREPARATION:
In a shallow bowl, combine 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon; set aside. Cream shortening; gradually add 1 1/2 cups sugar, beating well. Add eggs; beat well. Stir in vanilla.
In a separate bowl, sift together flour, soda, salt and cream of tartar. Add sifted ingredients to creamed mixture; stir until well blended.

2 3/4 cups Gold Medal? all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar

Heat oven to 400oF.
Mix 1 1/2 cups sugar, the butter, shortening and eggs in large bowl. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
Shape dough into 1 1/4-inch balls. Mix 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon. Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for ten minutes or until set. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

3. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
4. Bake 8-10 minutes. Remove immediately from baking sheet.

I made these because I had everything I needed in the house. My recipe is from the Pillsbury Kitchens Family Cookbook 1979 edition.

Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon; roll balls in sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees F. for 8 to 10 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
